USCIS Will Increase Filing Fees on July 30, 2007


The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") published a final rule in the Federal Register today that will significantly increase government filing fees for petitions, applications, and biometrics services.

The new fees will apply to all petitions and applications filed on or after July 30, 2007. The USCIS expects that the revenue from the increased fees will reduce processing times for I-90s, I-140s, I-485s and N-400s, and will lead to a 20 percent reduction in average processing times for all petitions and applications.

Fee increases for some of the most common immigration forms will be as follows:

*Please note:  Petitions for H-1B, H-2B and L-1 workers must also include applicable U.S. worker training and anti-fraud fees in addition to the $320 filing fee.

How This Affects You

The USCIS fee increases will take effect on July 30, 2007.   Petitions and applications received after July 30, 2007, with incorrect fees attached will be rejected.  Note that the I-485 filing fee includes application fees for EAD cards and advance parole travel documents.
