July 2011 Visa Bulletin: Significant Priority Date Advancement for EB-2 India and EB-3 Mexico

The Department of State (DOS) released the July 2011 Visa Bulletin, indicating a five-month advancement in the cut-off date for employment-based second preference (EB-2) for individuals born in India and for individuals born in China.

The continued advancement for EB-2 India is consistent with the DOS' previous statements in the June 2011 visa bulletin indicating the minimal demand in EB-2 India for previous months such that it was able to advance the cut-off date.

Foreign nationals with priority dates earlier than the cut-off dates below, or where noted as "current", may file, or be approved for, an adjustment of status application in the month of July 2011. They may also be approved for an immigrant visa abroad:

EB-2 Worldwide (excluding China and India):

EB-2 China

March 8, 2007 (forward movement of 5 months)

EB-2 India

March 8, 2007 (forward movement of 5 months)

EB-3 Worldwide (excluding China, India and Mexico):

October 8, 2005 (forward movement of 3 weeks)

EB-3 China:

July 1, 2004 (forward movement of 1.5 months)

EB-3 India:

May 1, 2002 (forward movement of 10 days)

EB-3 Mexico:

July 1, 2005 (forward movement of approx. 6 months)
