Immigration-related investigations of employers by the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Labor are on the rise, and they are not just targeting employers who are suspected of hiring undocumented workers.  Companies that hire H-1B workers in particular should be ready for random, and unannounced visits by USCIS agents, and investigations by the Department of Labor.  This hour and a half program is intended for HR managers and attorneys to give an overview of immigration-related employer compliance law and related government investigation programs, as well as updates on recent enforcement trends. The program also provides practical tips for preparing for these investigations and will give attendees an opportunity to ask questions of the speaker.  The following areas will be covered:

  • Site visits by Citizenship and Immigration Services of H-1B and L-1 employers;
  • H-1B Labor Condition Application and Public Access File compliance, and related Department of Labor investigations; and,
  • I-9 employment verification investigations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
