Senior Manager
Miki is a Senior Manager and serves as the lead paralegal. Miki was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan where she attended St.Maur International School. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and also attended a graduate program in Philosophy at The New School of Social Research in New York City. Her mother tongue is Japanese.
Miki began her 13-year career as a business immigration paralegal in New York, at the Law Offices of C. Steven Horn. She supported a clientele comprised mainly of Korean and Japanese individuals and corporations representing the food and service, transportation, entertainment, banking, securities, educational and not-for-profit sectors. Miki was also employed by Gibney, Anthony, and Flaherty, LLP, a multi-practice, mid-sized law firm, where she served European, American, and Japanese corporate clients representing the semiconductor, finance, reinsurance, consumer products, agribusiness, entertainment, and other industries. Miki moved to San Francisco in 1999 to join Cooley Godward LLP, where she has continued to service American, Korean and Japanese corporate clients, ranging from the well-established to Silicon Valley startups. She also held responsibility for day-to-day client administration, including the resolution of billing issues, monitoring of status reports, and periodic client presentations.
Miki is skilled in the preparation of a wide range of documentation required in connection with corporate visa matters, including L Blanket programs, E-1/E-2 registrations, and in handling filings involving corporate changes (mergers, acquisitions, and spin-offs). She is also experienced in individual filings for employment- and marriage-based green card applications, as well as procedures to maintain or renounce LPR status or pursue naturalization.
